From Scottrade when trying to enter a BUY on VPOR
"Error - Please contact your local branch about placing an order on this security."

I spoke with my branch yesterday regarding this message. Scottrade is not currently allowing users to buy this security. SELLS are permitted but BUYS are currently not.

I asked why and he read me the non-specific memo stating that Scottrade would not be able to process any purchase orders on this stock. There was no timetable or specific reason given for this issue.

I requested that my local agent speculate on what the reason may be. He said something about how the security would require a large amount of upfront Scottrade money in order to allow the smallest of VPOR trades. He used an example ratio of like $1 mil in order to do $100 worth of trading. I don't know enough about the trading floor to understand this, but that was the hypothetical reason I got for them discontinuing trading VPOR.
