Haven't followed silver.

Have any idea why silver is trading so low right now? I have no idea what kind of news or market conditions drives it.

I'm quite surprised that USLV tracks SLV so well. So I'm showing an SLV chart below but some of my comments apply equally to USLV.

I'll suggest that with silver's low volatility, I would look at a multiple moving average crossover system to trade it. For instance, under current circumstances, I would not buy the stock until it can figure out how to close above its SMA(3). It hasn't done that once since its decline from the 16 level.

USLV doesn't have options but SLV does. So those SLV options would be where I would look to get volatility. So I might look for a reversal wherein SLV closes above its SMA(3) with a green body showing a little momentum then sell SLV Puts at a strike below (but near) that price and use the funds from that sale to purchase SLV Calls above that price and choose an expiration that's out a few weeks or more. You could enter a trade like that for essentially no cost and possibly a small gain right from the beginning. The worst that could happen to you in that trade would be that price continues down into expiration and you are put the stock at the strike of the puts that you sold. But you might not mind because you were originally going to buy those shares at a higher price than the Put strike when you entered the options trade. Also, being forewarned is being forearmed and you can always modify the trade as it evolves.
