Bitcoin *is* tulips. But, keep in mind that that doesn't mean we can't profit off of it. Look, the BTC blockchain only handles about 350k transactions per day. It takes anywhere from 7 to 30 minutes to confirm a transaction. For those saying "BTC is the future!" are you going to stand at starbucks for 30 minutes for your payment to go through? And if transaction volume doubles, trebles, etc, it's going to get worse. I'm somewhat confident that blockchain currencies are probably the future, and blockchain technologies are going to become invaluable in the banking/financial, hell, even supply chain worlds, but I'm not sold on BTC itself. If crypto is the future, it will be something else that solves a lot of the issues with BTC's technology (see ether, dash, etc). But that's besides the point, right? $BTCS is a blockchain technology company: they're not just selling/supporting BTC, they're selling solutions to help those industries understand and adapt to blockchain technologies. It just so happens that BTC is *the* big one right now. It's fun and exciting to see BTC blow past $13k. But it's fueled by speculation and a ton of FOMO from retirees, truck drivers, soccer moms: it's Tulips. Enjoy it and profit from it while you can, before it collapses and everyone sours on blockchain tech while the real companies continue developing the technology in a sustainable, healthy manner. I'm in BTCS not just for the BCG merger (although it's hard to ignore the addition of ~$250 million in assets to a company with a $25 million market cap). I think there's something going to happen for everyone: the momentum/swing traders, the short sellers pushing volatility, the long term holders. And hey, if I'm wrong about the eventual collapse, that doesn't change anything about the opportunities here. Just recognize that there's some rightful skepticism to be had and this (BTC) has all the markings of pump pump pump and dump. Buyer beware and GLTA and I hope we all make a million dollars if/when $BTCS explodes.
