Shorts are forced to be chill when no one wants to sell. But, in the case of PTOP, they are underwater. There are time limits once certain thresholds are broken and they have been broken here. They are simply trying to reset the threshold. If no one sold, they would be FORCED to settle their accounts with their lenders (cover their short positions). They reset the threshold themselves by trading to themselves to lower the price. It's just the cost of doing business for them and is actually quite productive.
There is a lot of money to be made this way. However, PTOP's recent PR reflecting their funding agreement with a P E fund TOTALLY destroyed the game for the shorts.
Panic is setting in and they will be forced to cover very soon.
