Hmmm. It seems, at least in the mangrove example that Apple was denied IPR due to statute of limitations.

They didn’t ‘lose’ by virtue of the patents being validated as in the case with VPLM, and then Mangrove filed any IPR and had the patents invalidated.

APPLES and Oranges here...no pun intended.
