Gum your not getting it.Its the market Makers that are shorting your stock when you buy a stock. Yes you cant but they can.Say you buy xyz at .10 cents ie 10,000 shares what they post.They M.M. that you bought the shares from short sell this to you.Then they make share calls like say 1oo shares,looking for any broker including the one you bought your shares say e trade to sell them your shares you bought back to them. Make the spread ,then put them back in your account. IE the article posted.ou have to call your broker in this case E-trade and tell them not to short sale your shares to any Market makers.When you sigh up with e-trade you gave them the right to do this. Call them ie your broker and find out.I already have.
