Mayors (the chair of local chartered city council) city counselors, county commissioners, county judges, and local officials are duty-bound to "cheer" for perceived opportunity in their jurisdiction.

That's what they were elected to do, and what they are paid for.

They don't have the skills to conduct due diligence, to investigate potentially fraudulent schemes associated with "businesses" like MMEX that impact their communities, or do any deep diving to vet things like MMEX.

The mayor of Ft. Stockton is a "no-op." MMEX's proposed location is not within the city of Ft. Stockton,or its extra-territorial jurisdiction. MMEX has no direct impact on the city of Ft. Stockton.

The jurisdictional authority at the first level is Pecos County, which includes the Pecos County Commissioners. The next level up is the State of Texas.

Local cheerleaders, like the mayor, are just doing their job, getting a free beer, some PR, and maybe a cocktail weenie or two. That's about it. The mayor of Ft. Stockton's presence at the groundbreaking does not validate the project. He wasn't even sure about it himself, on the basis of his on the record comment.

the Mayor of Fort Stockton? In your opinion he just has no clue 'what is going on'?
