11:51 ET - A handful of firms have successfully disrupted US defense acquisition, with SpaceX the poster child. Now, Moody's argues continuing reforms could open up to $40B in opportunities for smaller firms to lead big programs over the next five years. The rating agency expects the focus to be on programs worth less than $3B, and cites wins for SAIC, Kratos and Orbital ATK as examples where the lead contractor was previously one of the traditional primes such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
