I had the same (but less well constructed) issue a long time ago. My belief was that the goal of the study was to increase the 3 year survival rate numbers by 10% or more sooooo once a participant reached 3 years one day that would be a positive "event"...otherwise the study could go on for years if the participants survived say 6+ years

Overall Survival (OS) in LI + CIZ + SOC vs. SOC [ Time Frame: 3 year ]



3 years..not 5 or 6 or 7

Now I guess another way to look at it would be to increase survival BEYOND 3 years by 10% soooo at 3 years 4 months they would become the needed "event" BUT this would limit the survival rate increase rate to that mentioned 10%

Ignoring both of these ideas would definitely push the study well past 2020 while waiting for participants to expire and get an accurate survival rate increase.
