The bids don't have to be posted on L2 if they are 10,000 shares or above. I called my Etrade rep about not showing my bid and this is the reply they made.

I hope this helps calm the water some. This is why you can have 100K trade out of the blue. There are probably many trades in the wings which don't show, all because they are 10K shares or above.
