there's seems to be a concerted effort to destroy Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The first volley, in what for all intents and purposes was a scandal, did not work so now we've moved to the foot dragging and no positive resolution stage. If that doesn't work, there's no telling what shareholders will have in store for the third round.
Fannie and Freddie had viable business models since their inceptions, have viable business models today, and only lack having the meddling of the government removed to return to business as usual. Any reforms needed by either entity were taken care of by 2012.
This nationalization of Fannie and Freddie makes a mob shakedown look like child's play.
