We are talking about thousands to manucacture a ton of Glucophage tablets while the investments to the machinery are already done.

1000kg of metformin sold to patients as tablets would make something like 100.000USD (retail price). How come you think making the tablets would take millions.

I don't know exact price, but I expect 100 tablets of 500mg metformin to cost somewhere $5-$10. Someone else might know present US prices better.
