Volume continues to slacken. Friday's turnover was the lightest in the past couple weeks. The number of trades compared to the average transaction is relatively small. Some 473 transactions resulted in an average of 470 shares per trade, or about $1060 in total dollar outlay. It would a safe assumption at this point to assume small players lacking access to huge amounts of capital are participating. That doesn't mean, of course, that multimillionaires living in McMansions in Boca Raton haven't been making a few nibbles.

Although the volume has slackened, the price decline from the most recent high hasn't been all that astounding. A 1-month chart of price/volume results tells the tale.


The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
