Maybe they are “important.” That is up to each reader to decide for themselves.

Moderators can also delete posts and that specific moderator deletes posts form a few posters not base don the TOS, just based on the fact that he/she doesn't want them there.

That is an unsubstantiated allegation. Moreover, every user has visibility to their removed posts and an easy option to request administrative review of any post they believe was improperly removed.

so who checks the moderators to make sure that they are following the guidelines that they should be?

Admins, since unlike you it is they who have visibility to the information necessary to make such assessments.
