Martin Kaufman sounds like the new CEO .....hmmmmmmmm IMHO

“We’re hiring!” says Martin Kaufman, Director of Business Development of Blüm which operates cannabis shops in Oakland and San Leandro CA, and Las Vegas and Reno, NV. Blüm already employs 107 people, and its parent company has projected sales of approximately $38M in cannabis and related products for 2017.

After self-financing the original Blüm with the help of coworkers in 2012, the company went public. That “opened a world of possibilities with respect to expanding our business,” said Kaufman, but also meant “we had to evolve our Standard Operating Procedures to meet SEC requirements for GAAP auditing and SOX compliance.” It was an enormous amount of work he says, but “We’re definitely in favor of transparency and safeguarding shareholders.”

As cannabis has gained legal status and acceptance, the transformation in the marketplace has been significant. It wasn’t that long ago that the cannabis business operated completely in the shadows, said Kaufman, “So to see our thriving, vertically integrated cannabis club become a valued part of not only the neighborhood, but a business that our Mayor, Congresswomen and other national legislators have thanked us for? It’s not technically ‘surprising’ to us, but…it’s a little surprising to us.”
