The Republicans since Reagan have never taken budget deficits seriously, although they pay lip service to the idea. In the House, Freedom Caucus members have already signaled that they will support Trump's tax plan, after Kevin Brady gets through re-writing it.
The Senate may be another matter. Rand Paul will never support a plan that would run up such a huge deficit. But Corker is a far more significant player, and I'm not sure how he will vote on this.
I wouldn't completely rule out a couple of Democratic votes (Heitkamp?), but that seems unlikely.
Powell looks like the choice for FED Chair, and the Market should rejoice; he's a good choice, probably more dovish than Yellen, even.
