What does it matter? Whole sellers, warehouse distribution point managers, pharmacy chains like Walgreen or Walmart, who cares?

Use your brain. If you were retail seller selling a drug to a consumer, what's the key point?

Of course it's where you can make best profit. For a pharmacist one key question is how long will the drug be "sellable". A part of drugs always simply get old and then you cant sell it any more. If you can't sell it, it will make you only costs and not profit.

One important key component is how long a drug will be valid to sell. This is more important than a little difference in price. Patient/customer only buy a product that is available at a pharmacy. Patient does not even know if there were a cent or two cheaper product somewhere. It's the retail seller who decides what drug a patient will get. That's why one of the most important questions for a drug maker is how to get the drug on the retail sellers shelf. If it's there, it can be sold. Drug maker will get the drug on retail sellers shelf if it will be valid longer than competitors product.

So - it's actually very big matter. It's a matter do you sell or do you not.

It's a big error to think patient as a customer for a drug maker.

If - one beautiful day - Amazon or other web based retailer will start selling drugs too, this position will change totally. Then it's up to the patient what product he will buy and then the price does really matter.
