One difference between the Palestinians and the others you mentioned: The Palestinians maintained, from Day 1, that they should be allowed to return. The others acquiesced to the loss of their homes. It may be that the Palestinians should have done the same thing, but they didn't.
Of course they can't be allowed to return, but some form of compensation is in order...
