Seems to me that one big hurdle for Elio is the price point. Notice the vehicles in that article, even the sparce equipped base Arcimoto, are much higher than what Elio originally was claiming his vehicle would sell for.

His delays and the improving economy have driven the price of materials higher which would most likely make his price point impossible to sell at.

Probably just one more reason that nobody wants to keep throwing money at his pipe dream.
