In the right environment, a horizontal may drain more but not in many cases, In some cases, a horizontal is counter productive, You have to take the geology into consideration prior to engineering a plan. Many times a vertical well make more economic sense. Many shale play require horizontal wells because they have low porosity and low pern and require large stimulation jobs to create perm. Due to the low recovery factors, a horizontal well will expose more face of the rock to the wellbore. This is not the case of the minnelusa in the rocky point area
