So to summarize:

65nm Conroe (4M shared L2): Up to 2.66GHz @ 65W, 2.93GHz @ 75W
65nm Brisbane (2x512KB L2): Up to 2.5GHz @ 65W, 2.6GHz @ 76W

These are apples-apples launch frequencies.

Given that Conroe does a lot more work done per clock, it doesn't appear that AMD's 65nm power competitiveness is all that impressive.

And by the time AMD launches these new parts, Intel ought to be well on their way to launching their second Conroe stepping. A 2.93GHz @ 65W or 3.2GHz @ 75W Conroe sku would tower over Brisbane in performance/watt.
