Could someone please explain locking in sell orders?

How does it be it benefit you?

How does it benefit the community?

How does it prevent people from "borrowing your shares"? (Also what does borrowing mean?)

Am I risking not being able to sell if I don't lock in as I'd like to see if it goes higher than the conservative lock in price?

Why not just wait for the stock to level out and then sell potentiality much higher than you conservatively locked the order in at? Is the risk of waiting that somehow the market or community collapses and you can't sell your shares?

Thank you very much for the help!
