Has anyone bought a house before??? When you purchase something big you set a tentative closing date. That date is just a target date that both parties would like to hit. Normally generic like the middle of the month... Aka 15th (A Sunday) generally with a not to exceed date 15 days later. Once both parties have all the paperwork done and Lawyer hash everything out closer to that tentative date a true closing date is set. For all we know Songbird set the closing date. The 31st is the deadline weather people like it or not!!
