The Energy department of University of Wyoming is tasked to increase production and sale of PRB coal... they have hosted the Japanese and more recently in conjunction with Gov Mead has visited Taiwan. They have a terrific research division. From my perspective it provides me with a degree of additional comfort and validation as Universities tend not to align themselves with just any technology. Richard Horner (quoted in the article (director of the energy division at UoW) has an incredible resume in the commercial world prior to joining the University. Maybe these validations will provide benefits to this company.
David Hawkings from the natural resource defense council quoted in the article that he believes that this technology will increase the use of global coal....
