The Opportunity

The Director of Sales Strategy will be responsible for developing our recreational market sales strategy leading up to the opening up of the recreational market in July 2018.

This individual will play a key role in positioning Canopy Growth as the Licensed Producer of choice for customers across Canada. Bringing an entrepreneurial approach that can turn concepts into real business building solutions will be foundational to being successful.

This role is an important early addition to our recreational sales team as we look to build out our national sales structure. This role will initially report to the Chief Marketing Officer.


Responsibilities

Lead the development of sales strategies and capabilities to support the core sales function, consistent with Canopy Growth’s ambition to be our customers first choice partner. Including category vision, building capability in category management, shopper insights, and our sales go-to-market model that will enable Canopy to excel in the post July 2018 marketplace.
Develop Canopy’s own retail strategy, from concept to the implementation of a scalable business model.
Lead, energize & grow a multi-disciple sales strategy team. Identify & build key capabilities we need to meet our business objectives.
Develop, drive and ensure alignment of the high-level sales strategy with the company's strategic vision
Identify and propose new acquisition channels and tests to drive new customer growth
Develop, compile, measure, and interpret key metrics, including lead acquisition and conversion rates, tied to specific sales campaigns
Working with Director of Communications, and Head of Government & Stakeholder Relations develop and execute innovative stakeholder communications strategies to educate, inform and elevate Canopy’s presence
Other duties as assigned

Experience and Background
A proven senior commercial leader with broad experience across sales and sales strategy
A broad mental framework that is comfortable across multiple stages of development from conceptual thinking to documenting core processes
Experience working within or creating retail environments
Experience in Beverage Alcohol or relatable industries an asset.
An insatiable curiosity of what makes customers tick and the ability to turn that curiosity into insight and business solutions

This is a full-time position based out of Smiths Falls or Toronto.
