BUT ....
USC allows more distant learning and graduate certificates than most other schools. As for it's business school, it is not first tier - it is a second tier business school at best and it's ranked 65th - just below the University of Georgia. I say this as a graduate of their school (USC) of International Relations and a proud but realistic Trojan alumni.
'Exec's' come in all flavors especially a company like a telecom company - Lots of science folks are exec's in lots of areas that have nothing to do with people or financials. Most science types don't manage people well and most never spent much time learning the ins and outs of the financial part of running a business.
William was way late to California, late filing every financial report, picked poor accountants and did not catch their problems early on which tells anyone who knows business he does not know the financial end of the business - and it is a fairly small business, and seems to spend more time looking for the next quaint one horse pot state than the obvious pot meccas in his own back yard, California and Nevada. Perhaps he avoids the 'hard' in favor of the 'easy' - not a great CEO trait.
