I think your time line is wrong. Opie got the shares raised to 10B and only THEN did he sell controlling shares to Smith to get his tax bill paid. It was all Opie saving his tail! Then Smith has used it as a device to get rid of his debt and taxes. I did not say that Opie was better or worse. Opie was an intimate part of the scam. He got away with his part and now Smith has gotten away with his part. None of them are saints. They are both crooks IMHO.
