And all of those desktop machines will be running 32 bit Windows for the foreseeable future. When it arrives Windows 2003 Server will not see significant use on the desktop. More importantly, there are no 64 applications for the desktop that are anywhere in sight.

The Athlon 64 will in the real world simply provide a new 32 bit procesor that displaces Athlon XP.
