I don't understand how short interest can affect the share price in a positve way. To short, you sell shares you actually don't own yourself and buy them back later, for a lower price to cover. The difference in price is your profit.

So, I have to sell the shares and after I have sold them, the share price has to go down in order to make money.

If I wanted to go short here, I was hoping for a higher price to sell before at some point the price has to fall to cover my position, thats correct. But how does that affect the share price? A north-moving chart is the result of strong buys, not of sells. The only way this could be good is that shorts sit and wait to sell.
