Ok, now let's talk. What do you think the budget for these auto makers is for their R and D departments? You're talking about an optional phone ap with a plug in device from a 3rd party manufacturer. Let's just set aside the fact that these companies are experts at what they do. Is Steve a tech guy? No he is not. Does he have a tech dept that knows everything about the electronics working inside all of the top manufacturers automobiles? No. Is there a chance that this 3rd party device could interfere with components intrinsic to the safe operation of the vehicle? Yes. That's why they have engineers in house to design safe cars. You can't just have some 3rd party come along and start messing with your on board electronics. Too much liability at stake. Too much research and testing needed. This is why we haven't seen the actual contracts with the dealerships, they can't make this call, it involves engineering and there is too much liability.
