How far would we be from this when the silkfarm is finally set up?:

As it sets up its first silk farm, Kraig Biocraft will continue discussions toward finding a much larger suitor to acquire the company.

"We believe that the ultimate way to capture value for our shareholders is for this company to merge with an industrial giant that services the market for technical textiles," Thompson said.

He said he is in discussions with a foreign company about such a merger but declined to discuss further details because of a nondisclosure agreement, other than to say no announcement is imminent.

Science steady, slow for investors

Individuals who say they are Kraig Biocraft shareholders and who participate in message boards on Yahoo Finance, Investor Village and iHub have posted more than 50,000 comments on the company, its founder and the technology. Some have expressed impatience with the progress over the past two years and complain that Thompson is closemouthed about aspects of commercializing the technology. Other posters staunchly defend Thompson and his leadership.

Said Thompson: "I love our share-holders, but we are pretty tight-lipped over here. We try not to issue press releases unless there's something very definitive. I am reluctant to toot that horn unless there is some decent breakthrough or deal that we have signed."
