Very true, it's always been one of the big problems I've had with RM's in general, you never knew which ones were going to reverse split. I'm very much against reverse splits, because more often than not they don't work out for the existing shareholders, insiders just turn around and issue millions of shares to themselves and others afterwards and the o/s goes right back up.

Plus you never know when the existing shareholders are going to get orangehooked. 'Orangehooked' is my term for what happens when there is a massive r/s and the existing shareholders get totally and completely wiped out, based on ORHK, which was one of the most epic reverse splits of all times.

You can kind of look at the share delivery % and amount held in DTC and get an idea if your safe or not but truth is, it's a crapshoot, any RM can r/s, regardless of the o/s.

With new issue we do not have this problem, these rarely r/s, HWGG comes to mind, they got carried away with a huge f/s, then turned around and did a small r/s a few months later, but generally your pretty safe. Much higher chance for a f/s than a r/s on these.
