You can't get something for nothing. The fed is not created to " buy securities ", let alone 4T worth. The Feds balance sheet is so out of whack w reality that it must be brought back to normalization, or their authority , mandate, and legitimacy will become more questioned. Normalization should of occurred a long time ago, but the fed had been a slave to the market, and without unwinding the balance sheet it severely limits their ability to intercede in any future crisis. All these sentiments are not coming from me, they are in fact the expressions directly fro m the fed itself.
