Results of 2-d test codes on qode Symbian Series 60

OK here are the results. I initially was trying to click on both the AutoXperience and Cellufun's 2-d bar codes on my computer screen. I was unable to get the camera lens to focus. Instead, I would pick up tiny horizontal lines on the screen of my Nokia 6682 camera phone.

So after thinking about possible resolution interference eminating from the computer screen itself, I printed out both 2-d bar codes and was able to obtain the green cross hair immediately on both bar codes. I was able to do this anywhere between 2" and 12" inches away from the 2-d bar codes. That little green cross hair at the center of qodes camera screen is brightly lite and incredibly easy to maniuplate anywhere near these codes and under a variety of lighting conditions.

Both URL's were obtained within about 5 seconds of when I clicked on the codes. After that, AutoZperiences and Cellufun's home web pages opened up in a snap. There were numerous links contained in both advertisements.

1.) AutoXperience was the exact same identical website information that you see by going to AutoXperience's website. It displayed the waiting area, body shop, store sign and provides a map with directions...all very fast downloads (1 to 2 seconds), all very clear and well designed. The 2" mobile screen is easily readable and the resolution is clean and precise.

2.) Cellufun's web page brought me to a description of its chess game with 5 additional links on the opening page: one to download the game, one for high scores history page, one for more games, one for Home and finally one more for wap pages. But wait, after playing a quick game of tic-tac-toe (of which I was unable to beat my opponent), I recieved additional links for other ad's such as: earn a degree on line, discount coupons on Cingular cell phones, other cool links, and a link to view all of these links in 12 different languages. I clicked on the Cingular ad and was immediatelty brought to a CellFire webpage. CellFire is obviously an app. which I can download to my cell phone in order to store and access coupons any/anywhere...it says...save great offers on movies, flowers, travel & more. So I downloaded this app. and I get a response saying that my cellphone comes predownloaded w/CellFire and do I want to access the file? Duh or what...After opening Cellfire it says: when at a store, open Cellfire and select the merchant, choose the coupon and show your screen with the coupon (bar) code to the cashier. Its that easy...

I also took printed versions of Cellufuns and AutoXperience and taped them to the rounded side of a soda can to see if this would work and the automatic green focus cross hair target was displayed under most all hand positions within the 2" to 12" distance. Man that green target makes its so easy that even a trained monkey can do it...sorry Scott!

All in all, qode app is a very robust app and it is going tobe a complete and utter blow away. If you have a Nokia Symbian Series 60 cell phone, I would highly recommend downloading it now and kicking the tires. If you don't, then its just a matter of a few more days for Java, MSFT 5.0, Palm, Brew and Blackberry to all have access to qode.

Oh, by the way, there was no need for me to have to adjust the factory camera settings. Apparently when the camera is set in the qode app., you "can not" use the phone's zoom lens features...thank gawd...because that would be too complicated. The camera lens is automatically locked into a particular focus mode, and there is no accessing any of the zoom features.

I'll be going to my local grocery store this afternoon to fool with 1-D bar codes. Stay tuned. This is going to be absolutely huge gang, I will bet my bottom dollar on it. I can only imagine how big Word Registry will be. Also, just wait till they announce the "Majors" who will be backing qode. Once they do, you won't be able to get back in for under $0.50. You can quote me on that!

Rock On, JP
