400 kv line Kosovo-Albania,
Germans resolve the stalemate

This needed to happen

The 400,000 kv interconnection line Kosovo-Albania, which is out of function for two years despite its completion, seems to be entering a new phase. This is related to the solution of the cripple between Kosovo and Serbia, which hinders the hiring of this investment tens of millions of euros. The Energy Community Secretariat warned that the German government has asked the Secretariat to take over the interlocutor's role. The role of the German government is not casual in terms of the German bank KFW itself financing this investment.

Below the full notification of the Secretariat:

The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), asked the Energy Secretariat to facilitate negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo to resolve disputes between EMS and KOSTT. The German ministry is particularly concerned because disputes are hijacking investment in the energy sector in the region and are blocking the integration of the regional energy market in the Western Balkans.

The Secretariat has mediated the settlement of the dispute between EMS and KOSTT even earlier, mediating which resulted in the signing of a bilateral agreement. However, these agreements have not been implemented and the conflict has remained unresolved. The mediation of the dispute between EMS and KOSTT is envisaged by the CONNECTA program for the regional energy market in the six Western Balkan countries, which the Secretariat applies for the European Commission.

The secretariat will now mediate the settlement of the dispute between the two governments
