Paula Gaviria is actually Paula Gaviria Betancur (grandaughter of former President Belisario Betancur) and is currently Colombia's Presidential Adviser on Human Rights and has been since June of 2016.

Kate is not doing justice by simply saying Gaviria is behind the project.

Previously she was the Director of the Unit for Integral Care and Reparation for the victims of Colombia before being elevated to her new post. Do not believe she was ever a Senator, she has stayed away from politics for most of her career.

She has had a long and distinguished career in Human Rights. Is a lawyer and holds numerous past graduate degrees.

Her grandfather's presidency was during extreme violence. Drug cartels murdered his Minister of Justice, this was during the time when M-19 guerillas took hostages in the Palace of Justice which resulted in over a hundred dead including half the supreme court judges. Any of you watch Narcos on Netflix?

Point being, she grew up and saw the horror first hand and committed her life to improving the lives of Colombians. She has influence and if Kate has her on her side...it's BIG!
