In the old days a Fake Press Release would have been put out simultaneously to a pump and dump newsletter designed to get its people in. The stock would run up and then everyone would cash in and the stock tanks lower than ever. Then the Carnival Barkers step in with their role playing, pretending that they wonder "what just happened" when they know fully well exactly what happened. Those were the days of Fake Companies and their henchmen.
