Daejeon City signs green fuel cell power generation project agreement

? Daejeon City Hall ? Sky Daily
Daejeon City will actively promote the fuel cell power generation business to overcome the shortage of potential energy source in the region. Daejeon City announced on the 4th that it concluded a joint development business agreement with KOSPO, Hansol Paper,

Under the agreement, KOSPO will invest KRW 1,600 million to build a 30 MW fuel cell power plant on the site provided by Hansol Paper. LNG will be supplied from Chungnam City Gas to produce electricity and heat.

Electricity can be supplied to about 58,000 households with an annual output of 233,000 kWh. The heat produces 100,000 kcal per year. KOSPO plans to sell the generated electricity to KEPCO and generate revenue by selling REC (renewable energy supply certificate).

As a by-product, the archipelago is expected to supply Hansol Paper with additional income. Daejeon City will take the administrative procedures such as licensing procedures necessary for the construction of power plants as soon as possible and actively promote the government's decentralized power generation measures and clean energy development policies.

In addition, we will cooperate in the development of fuel cell power plant, which is a plan to dramatically increase the environmentally friendly distributed power generation, to realize "Energy Zero City Challenge" early and establish an eco-friendly energy independence system.

Kwon Seon-tae, the mayor of Daejeon, said, "We will promote the replacement of energy generation that focuses on the safety of all of us and future generations through collaboration with innovative resources in the region centered on fuel cell power plants, We will also actively review the construction of fuel cell power plants at industrial complexes leading the industrial revolution.
