makesumgravy, your correct its not as bad as it was ..

i currently live in medellin colombia .. i have been here around 1 1/2 years, working, data communications engineer. president Alvaro URIBE has really cleaned things up .. especially in medellin .. traveling around the city, and outside of the city, my friends point out where things were really bad when pablo escobar and the medellin cartel were active .. but today is very safe .. escobar was killed in 1993, and later on the medellin cartel fell. a search team made up of US delta force operators, navy seals, and a colombian police task force tracked him down and killed him. there are still things happening behind the scenes .. meaning you never know who you meet, who they are, what they do, but for the most part, things are great here. regarding people like the FARC, ELN, etc.. predident URIBE's father was killed by the FARC and vowed to make it his main priority to confront the FARC .. since URIBE the cities are much safer, especially medellin, which is where URIBE is from.

however your comment about most people speaking english here is not correct and not sure why you would assume that .. most people here do NOT speak english .. actually very few .. alot of folks read english, but do not understand or speak very well at all.

in regards to MGMX, i have spoke to some folks down here and i know they are working to get things rolling .. i know they have done alot, and its endless the opportunities they have .. maybe redsky will look me up when he is in town? i can show him the park he keeps mentioning ..
