Gantor, I agree with you. It is odd, the lack of return fire from the tute longs throughout this concerted and lengthy suppression, and so is the apparent availability of cheap shares for borrowing. I'm not sure what the answer is either. But it would seem to imply one logical answer: one or more tute shorted their own shares, but they don't really want to cover with their own shares and walk away, which they could do at any time. They want to be net long again but they can't be because shares are not available for them to purchase. A desire for a private placement that they cannot get may play into this as well.
