John/wbmw Re: Mobile A64 will never be able to compete with Dothan.

Wouldn't it be fair to say Mobile Athlon 64 will perform in the same range as Prescott M but have lower power consumption? Therefore it has a good change competing with the Prescott M in the desktop replacement market.

Secondly wouldn't it be fair to say Mobile Athlon 64 to perform significantly better than both Banias and Dothan while having more or less the same price tag but consume much more power? If the Mobile Athlon 64 is configured with wireless than it will surely compete and take market share from Banias/Dothan sales (people wanting the performance and that care less about being 5 hours without juice). Yes I know some say that it's weird comparing low and high power notebooks, but you see for people that don't care about power they won't look at it. They will look at the feature set they care about. As I see it market segmentation is in the eyes of the beholder. For Intel and AMD marketing is selling what they got. For me and everyone else that thinks individually it's segmenting based on what we as individuals care about. Wireless is hence a perceived market segment including both low and high power subsections.

Kind regards,

Ixse
