About Us

We at Permian Basin Oil & Gas magazine published out first issue in September 2006, through affiliation with the Permian Basin Petroleum Association (PBPA). We continue to serve the association today. PBOG, as it’s known to those of us who work with it daily, brings relevant stories and timely information to the folks in the oil and gas industry.

News from the Permian Basin and West Texas:

MMEX Resources buys land for Phase I of refinery in Pecos County

MMEX Resources, now headquartered in Fort Stockton, said July 31 it has purchased 126 acres in Pecos County near the Sulfur Junction spur of the Texas Pacifico-South Orient railroad for Phase I of a $450 million refinery. The land will be used for a 10,000 bpd crude distillation unit. MMEX said it soon will purchase an additional 350 acres for the 50,000 bpd refinery. MMEX also filed permit applications with the Texas Commission on Environmental Qualilty.
Jack W. Hanks, president and CEO, said, “The closing of our Phase I land site is a major milestone for the Pecos County refinery project and a catalyst for significant milestones to come, including the filing of environmental permits to authorize construction on our smaller-scale initial refinery. We’re eager to begin construction on this exciting project.”
Plans for the refinery were announced in March (Blast, March 10, 2017).
