imo you're both right. since charts can't know when news is coming (assuming the company is in a quiet period) indicators are just a snapshot in time, and in this case a PR and filings for a completed merger would redraw all of it.

charts work until they don't. if you think i'm wrong, pull up a chart on any "dead" stock that suddenly gapped and ran on huge news. if the market isn't aware of what's coming, the chart won't show it, either.
