I tend to disagree. I don't think the announcement was pre mature. If you look back to previous PR's, this company always announces when their products are going into production and then they always follow up weeks later with a product launch.

I look at it as their way of being transparent and providing shareholders with expectations. This can also create buzz that a new product is being produced.

Apple is the best example of this, albeit an extreme example. They set product launch dates months in advance and announce it.
