With 10m short (appx 25% of float) why is the borrowed rate sitting at 1.25%? It's like someone wanted to keep the borrowing rate artificially low to encourage shorting. Is someone/ some entity just waiting to blow the shorts out of the water in a major way? With such a high % of float short the borrowing rate s/b at least 20%, not 1.25%. Can anyone explain how the rate can be so low? Are all 40m shares available to short?
