Hi Favorable1 - I was going to say a while ago already, "your really starting to do your homework"

I would answer that 'yes', effectively they are similar concepts, but probably different applications. Many WiFi Router manufactures have licensed the MIMO technology for years now, Belkin, Linksys, Cisco, ASUS, just to name a few. I thought Belkin originally came up with it but after Googling I see that is not the case, at least 2 names come up as the inventors but it seems to have a longer history back to the 70's. Arogyaswami Paulraj and also Greg Raleigh get a lot of credit.

The following article is very informative and explains a bit about 4G, maybe you are already reading it:

http://www.techrepublic.com/google-amp/article/a-conversation-about-5g-with-inventor-of-mimo/

I think one difference with 5Barz is that the MIMO solution first of all, uses multiple antennae's making the device inherently more cumbersome, or simply larger, and is probably focused on the larger, more commercial applications. There are after all a ton of other Network Extender devices out there like Wilson Electronics is the first that comes to mind. But just go to the Vodafone website and look for Network Extenders - there's a ton of them from big companies, and you still won't find 5Barz listed :(.

The 5Barz Network Extender is a small Home solution that is much less expensive than the commercial solutions and I believe it only uses 2 antennae's, one in and one out, side by side.

The 2 main things keeping me hanging on still are the agreement with Kaynes Technology. I spoke with them and they confirmed the agreement. The other is Tushar Shah. If you go to LinkedIn and look at his profile this guy is no slouch and has worked for some impressive companies.

Also with respect to Gil Amelio, there is an articles from March this year where he explains his vision and why he started the company, so he is still talking about it. Maybe there is a power struggle going on between Gil and Danny as to who's idea it really was. I sort of wonder when you watch the video 'The 5Barz Launch Dinner' in Barcelona, Gill really takes a pregnant pause (around the 1:20 minute mark) when he comes to the part where he needs to announce Danny Bland as the founder of the company. And I still have a concern that if successful, they could easily become a takeover target, they're a small niche player.
