Shub,

Sometimes it helps to know what you invested in.

Sometimes it doesn't matter.

It really, really matters with Advaxis because of all the denials and disinformation that goes back many generations to the very first vaccine adjuvant company.

Ribi Immunochem Research was founded by - wouldn't you know it? - Dr. Ribi.

Dr. Ribi died in a plane crash and his adjuvant that by itself was licensed to cure surface cancers in racehorses passed into the hands of clowns, crooks and fools. Even Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, as part of a consortium of wealthy biotech investors in Seattle, had a hand in making the trajectory of Dr. Ribi's detoxified cell wall skeletons a long and tragic one.

Eventually GSK bought the adjuvant that was all that was left of a loudmouth's Corixa biotech in a bankruptcy auction and recently it blazed into the light of day again adjuvanating a breakthrough malaria vaccine alongside its old nemesis, a multipurpose saponin derivative with multiple uses that even included flavoring the Old West sarsaparilla.

Obviously a live pathogen like Listeria as an adjuvant in place of pathogen skeletons is a leap into the future but both are the fruit of Nobel laureate-quality efforts from deep research that has gotten little notice from the Great Unwashed that live their lives with more frivolous pursuits.

No, the HER2 oncogene is not the first Advaxis cancer vaccine adjuvant and maybe shouldn't be one at all. A handful of women with breast cancer have been killed by herceptin targeting cancer cells but also killing healthy heart cells expressing the HER2 oncogene. One can simply stop taking a drug showing ill effects. There is no way known of "turning off" a vaccine.

Thus the dog vaccine is my surmise. However much we love our dogs people come first and dogs are far better subjects of medical experiments for human medicine than lab rats and mice. Humans and dogs have evolved together for eons.

What will become of Dr. Paterson's glorious Listeria adjuvant that she spent years experimenting with in her lab at UPenn and getting no takers until an ingenue used a vulture financier for a hugely successful Phase I in Mexico, Serbia and Israel but left a bled-out corpse with a buzzard eating its liver?

You sure it should be shelved again by some big dumbo after a rummage sale?

I don't.

We old pharts are not likely to live long enough to see the final triumph of Dr. Paterson's vaccine adjuvant far beyond cancer but do you really think a rummage sale to vultures is a grand idea?

JMO.

Best, Terry
