August 5-It stormed Friday evening. I wasn't expecting it. The weather forecaster with the big boobs on Channel 14 didn't forecast it. I guess her boobs were wrong. It was enough to forego hand watering this morning.

A good surprise when the light was strong enough this morning. Eight brassica seeds had germinated in the Jiffy pellets. Before I left I decided to the check the date palm seeds wrapped in a wet paper towel inside a plastic bag. One actually germinated.

On the farm, after feeding CC the Calico Cat and making coffee, I transplanted 3 brassicas, probably broccoli. I needed to go Wal Mart for cat food and white distilled vinegar. It was noon when I returned, and too hot under a cloudless Carolina sky to go any further. I loaded up some Jenny Lind cantaloupes and took the bus home, along with a clay pot and dish for the date palm seed. It's a variety called Medjool, the Cadillac of dates. About $10 a pound. I filled the pot with wetted seed starting mix, inserted the seed with its curly white rootlet into the soil, watered again, and covered with more soil.

I took a nap, and didn't awake until 4:30. I drank a coffee to perk me up for a bus ride to the farm to feed CC. I think she is lonely. She sat in my lap for a spell, something see seldom does.

Back home, I scalded some tomatoes -- Eva Purple Ball, a red tomato from a plant that volunteered itself, and 4 Cherokee Purple -- for homemade tomato sauce.

Will I have enough in me to make more newspaper cups?

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
