I installed the water heater about three years ago and it had been working well until it began announcing its presence.
Today most water pressure regulators from HD and other hardware stores are made cheaper, some even using plastic bells. The one I replaced (that I put in) was plastic, and I probably bought it because it was cheaper. The brass regulator I happened to have on hand was costlier.
I replaced the regulator in a home I owned along with installing new copper pipes. I had that home for almost two decades and didn't even think about the regulator. It simply worked.
