July 31-Last day of July '17. A second day of not a cloud in the Carolina blue sky. I think a new raptor made an appearance. It was slightly larger than the hawks that glide around the Eastern Red Cedar. Maybe vulture.

Although the weather has moderated somewhat, it hasn't inspired me to work during the afternoon. I can clear out a bed in the morning but by midday I want to take the bus uptown to cool off in the shade trees lining North Tryon.

Some brassica seedlings emerged in the Jiffy pellets. Three. That's all. I'm worried that the seeds in the drawer have gone bad. Rhonda, who works part time, said she would buy some from Lowe's.

I brought two jars of pickled jalapenos to the office. Dreama says she likes them. I have five more jars in the fridge I will bring tomorrow.

I took the 3 bus to Harvey's after unloading some melons and Cherokee Purple tomatoes. I returned with a four-pack of Ball jars to pickle one each of jalapenos, Sheepnose pimento, Alma paprika, and a combination of Red and Golden Marconi. They're good for grilling.

Soon, I will pick another Sugar Baby watermelon. Plenty of melons still on the vines. I counted 25 Polish model melons. It is a superb variety. Doesn't split. Hard rind that doesn't rot. Stores well. You never know what works until you try.

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
